Capt. Sheridan claims British codebreakers knew ahead of time that Germans were planning to bomb the city of Coventry on November 14, 1940, and that Winston Churchill's administration deliberately left Coventry to its fate instead of evacuating it, so as not to give away that Britain had cracked Germany's code. Historians widely regard this as a myth, and that the British expected an attack but did not know what city it would target.
