Requiem for Mother
16 May 2011 | by (Youngstown,Ohio) – See all my reviews

"Requiem" starts out well, but bogs down quickly as the script tips its hand far too soon. Steed spends the entire episode on special assignment, guarding the key witness (Angela Douglas, "Dance with Death") in a case against Murder International, while Tara tries to warn Mother of a bomb threat at Steed's apartment. Too late to prevent the fatal explosion, she winds up in a hospital bed being interrogated by Major Firth (John Cairney), who needs to locate Steed because he too is carrying a bomb with him. John Paul, soon to star in DOOMWATCH, plays the doctor, with Kathja Wyeth, of Hammer's "Twins of Evil" (1971), as the nurse. Also featuring Harvey Ashby ("The Decapod" and "Death at Bargain Prices") and John Baker ("You Have Just Been Murdered"), at least this episode is a huge improvement over "Homicide and Old Lace."
