Kenny Ames' yacht is called "Sans Souci", which means "carefree" in French. It probably takes its name from Sanssouci (meaning the same), which was Frederick the Great's famous grand summer palace at Potsdam near Berlin.
In joke: The Oxlade character is named after Dick Clement's bank manager. His predecessor at the bank was a Mr Treadaway, which is also the name of a man in the Cross Keys who complains about his stool being taken by Barry.

When Dennis is reading from the newspaper he reveals the headline on the back which says 'Crying Boy curse has jinxed us, too.'
The Crying Boy was a painting that was reported, especially in 1985, to be either the cause, or sole survivor, of house fires.
