"The Professer" is an episode of the short-lived TV series "The Asphalt Jungle" from 1961. This one episode is a quick remake of the 1950 film of the same name. The main diff being that the regular detective squad has been written into the story. We have Phil Carey playing the Sterling Hayden role, Milton Selzer the Jaffe bit, Sydney Pollack doing Marc Lawrence. Then we have Guy Raymond in the Tony Caruso part, Kay Doubleday in the Jean Hagen role, Joan Staley in Monroe's bit and lastly Frank Overton in the Calhern role. It is a quick retelling of the of the film with just the highlights being touched on. Jack Warden, Arch Johnson and a young William Smith play the detectives. This was a good TV series which only ran for 13 episodes.
Fine time-wasters.
