Gangland murder tepid story

A big gang boss is murdered and the police force investigate, whilst protecting the boss's daughter now on the spot. An exciting story here. Talkative, but rewarding episode so far in the series. Gene Roth, as the murdered boss, just in the beginning, is maybe the most interesting character here, with the daughter's one, and also the bald killer too. No trace of actual noir, brutal atmosphere which I seek in that kind of shows or films, but the ending is unexpected, bleak as I like. But don't miss it, because it's so rare, the entire series I mean, even if this episode is not the best of them all. Some french spoken scènes here, with a surprising Bill Smith talking perfectly Molière's language. SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS No happy ending here. I love that.
