Sometimes a prom queen can lift your spirits.

"The Tale Of The Prom Queen" is one of the more traditional tales showcased in Are You Afraid Of The Dark? and a solid mix of tension and spookiness.

Dede (Katie Griffin) is a young woman that we first see wandering around in a graveyard. She meets two young men, Jam (Graeme Millington) and Greg (Andre Todorovic), and after first being frightened they soon become friends. As interested in the spooky and mysterious as teenagers often are, the boys tell Dede that they are looking out for the ghost of a prom queen who was killed by a bad driver while waiting for her date. A few false scares and disappointments later and all is set up for a spooky finale, possibly featuring a ghostly appearance by the prom queen or maybe it's all just a set-up.

Directed by Jean-Marie Comeau, and written by Chloe Brown, this could have easily been featured on the "Urban Legends" TV show, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The acting from Griffin, Millington and Todorovic is okay, though acting was never the strong point of this show, and the punchline is actually a really good one.

A solid episode.
