- Chuck Hutchins: Remember how we used to play cowboys-and-indians with cap pistols? Remember how we used to do this?
- [spins his revolver in his hand]
- Chuck Hutchins: Can you still do it?
- Annie Oakley: I don't know.
- [Annie whips her pistol from her holster and spins it in her finger]
- Chuck Hutchins: Hey, that's pretty good... for a girl. Let's see you shoot.
- Annie Oakley: Let's see you.
- [Annie throws three cans into the air which Chuck shoots in quick succession]
- Annie Oakley: Hey, that's not bad... for a man.
- Deputy Sheriff Lofty Craig: Can you keep a secret?
- Tagg Oakley: Cross my heart and hope to kiss a bow-legged grasshopper.
- Deputy Sheriff Lofty Craig: I'm going to send a wire to the sheriff down in Waco, Texas. I just got a sneakin' hunch he might be able to tell us somethin' about Mr. Hutchins.
- Tagg Oakley: Gosh, Annie will be awful mad when she finds out.
- Deputy Sheriff Lofty Craig: Uh-huh - but not half as mad as I'll be and I'll know who to blame.
- Annie Oakley: [Annie walks in wearing the prettiest white dress, pretty enough for a bride, peers in the mirror and arranges a long, flimsy white scarf around her head] Well, how do I look?
- Tagg Oakley: Gosh, why don't I ever get to eat at the hotel?
- Deputy Sheriff Lofty Craig: You wouldn't want to crowd Annie and her gunman friend, would you, Tagg?
- Annie Oakley: Just how did you mean that?
- Deputy Sheriff Lofty Craig: [Lofty sounds more manly than usual] Exactly like it sounded.
- Annie Oakley: [She softens] Lofty Craig, I do believe you're jealous.
- Deputy Sheriff Lofty Craig: Tell me, why does he wear his guns tied down if he's not a gunslinger?
- Junk Wagon Jenny Hutchins: I know how you've always felt about me and this wagon. The Lord gave me a humble place on this life. Just a peddler, sharpening knives, making keys. But I got myself respect. Everybody trusts old junk wagon Jenny, like Mr Johnson giving me the set of keys to make new ones for the bank.
- Chuck Hutchins: The bank?
- Junk Wagon Jenny Hutchins: Bankers and sheriffs, I do business with all of them. Oh, where could they find anybody else to trust like that? Ah, this means more to me than all the money these little keys can unlock.
