Trivia

Liam's funeral is interesting because of his eulogy. The priest might speak many more words, but we hear him speak only a few phrases: "Taken too soon from the bosom of his family, a man of just 20 years and 6, Liam was well-loved by everyone he met. Receive this your humble servant. We pray that you may take his eternal soul into your care, Father." Liam was turned into vampire Angel in 1753. Not long before that, funeral orations were philosophical and theological in nature. They were often given in Latin for Catholics, in places where Latin was familiar to commoners. These eulogies said, more or less, "Now, the rest of you, try to avoid the sins of this sinner." But in the late 18th century, they began to focus on praise and memory of the departed. So the ceremony represents a transition between the old and the new traditions, just as Angel does himself. See more »

Goofs

Wesley claims to be doing a vivisection on the remains of a demon. However, a vivisection is only done on living specimens. What Wesley has done would be more aptly described as an autopsy, or a post mortem. See more »

Quotes

Angel's Father: Liam! You'll do as I say!
Liam: [to his sister] Sweet Kathy. No tears. We'll meet again.
Angel's Father: Defy me now, you won't! Not as long as I live!
Liam: You'll want to move away from the door now, father.
Angel's Father: Go through it, but don't ever expect to come back!
Liam: As you wish, father. Always, just as you wish.
Angel's Father: It's a son I wished for! A man! instead God gave me you! A terrible disappointment!
Liam: Disappointment? A more dutiful son you couldn't have asked for. My whole life you've told me in word, in glance, what it is you required...

Kate was Buffy without the PTB
1 February 2011 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Stop bashing Kate.

Joss set out to create the "un-super" Buffy for Angel to love.

The only difference between the two women is Buffy got the life of superhero and Kate just got the life. I.E. Buffy got cramps when a vampire was around, Kate just got a headache from disbelief.

I am sure Elizabeth would have scored big in the part if only Joss had more time to write her in between crossovers, channel changes, lawsuits, actor jealousy, exhaustion and also, like Kate, only being mortal in the end.

Elizabeth got a better gig before Joss got time to turn Kate into "MBC". (Most Beloved Character). Good for Elizabeth. And to make it up to Elizabeth, himself, and us, Joss gave us Fred. (BMMBC) (Blue Meannie Most Beloved Character) Stop whining, and watch another episode. dana
