Storyline

Emmet's in a bit of a quandary trying to decide what to get his wife Martha for their 25th wedding anniversary. He's asking around for ideas and when he hears that she wants a mink coat, he just doesn't understand why she would want something so extravagant or how he could possibility afford it. When Flora the waitress overhears Emmett talking about it in the diner, she tells him that a good friend in Mount Pilot could sell it to him wholesale. He tells Martha he's going out with the boys for the evening but she sees Flora getting into his car she assumes the worse. To complicate things even further, when Emmett gets to the furrier he realizes that he can't afford the coat even at wholesale prices but by then, Martha thinks she's getting the coat after all and he has to scramble. A Case of Mistaken Identity"
29 March 2012 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Once again in this episode another beloved character from Mayberry gets highlighted. In this case the character of Paul Hartman's Emmett Clarke. I like how one thing leads to another and how people jump to conclusions. It was a well written episode. I like how Andy in one scene resorts to a little white lie in covering up for Emmett when not really knowing what Emmett was doing. A true friend. But when he saw how broke up Emmett's wife Martha(Mary Lansing)was after seeing him with the waitress Flora(Alberta Nelson), Andy basically told her the truth because he could not stand to see Martha so hurt! Nice. And the scene where Emmett is almost "off the hook" he does not know when to quit and he's back to square one and has to get the mink coat! Priceless!

Plus there is a interesting and nice guest appearance by the great Ronnie Schell(Duke Slater from Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C.) as Bernie the furrier.
