Andy travels to the big city with a summons to arrest J. Howard Jackson. The man had been caught speeding through Mayberry a few weeks before but failed to appear on the agreed court date. Jackson is forced to go to Mayberry to be found guilty and pay his fine. Outraged, Jackson decides to take his revenge. A publisher, he sends one of his reporters to Mayberry to get the dirt on Andy. Posing as a college student, Jean Boswell sweet-talks Barney into giving her some dirt on Andy. When her article appears, Andy quickly finds himself facing a misconduct hearing.
