- This episode is a parody of the 1994 film , directed by . In this episode, Grandma () mans the phone at the bookstore and Mr. Kim's friend Desmond (Tarantino) arrives with a delivery of some videotapes. Margaret () arrives and she and Desmond talk briefly about movies, and he asks her out to dinner, saying they can watch afterwards. She is uninterested at first, telling Mr. Kim ) that Desmond is "a square," but he convinces her and she agrees to the date. Desmond takes her to Fantasy Diner, a '70s-themed restaurant, and Margaret is soon charmed by his knowledge of pop culture trivia and his dancing skills. Later, Mrs. Kim () prepares dinner and expresses her doubts about Desmond, but when he arrives, he shows off his knowledge of Korean and presents the family members with gifts, including a football for Eric (), who recently twisted an ankle playing sports. He also gives Grandma a portable television, which was smuggled through the war under questionable circumstances. And when Mrs. Kim frets over her turkey, he shows her precisely how to stab it through the breastbone with a meat thermometer.
Margaret takes Gloria () and Ruthie () to Fantasy Diner, gushing about Desmond, but they soon spot him at a nearby table with some shady characters. When she confronts him, he admits that he bootlegs videotapes, but says that it is a victimless crime. To prove his point, he brings her along on a delivery, and at first he merely provides a little old man with movies, but when she asks, Desmond admits that he could go to prison if he is caught, as could her father, because he is selling the bootlegged videos. He tells her he cannot quit, however, because of his criminal boss, Average Tony (). At home, Margaret tells her parents the truth about Desmond, who soon comes over and apologizes, saying he is quitting after all. Suddenly, Average Tony arrives at the Kims', causing everyone to panic, although Grandma threatens to go get "the gimp" (i.e., Eric). Desmond comes into the living room to confront his boss, and Grandma runs to the basement, where she considers a hammer, a bat and a weedwhacker before grabbing a sword. Margaret attempts to protect Desmond, but Average Tony reveals himself to be a nice guy, merely not wanting to lose a good employee. He makes a hasty retreat once the sword-wielding Grandma appears, but as a clueless Stuart () has called the cops, Desmond must make a run for it, and Margaret promises to wait for him. In the closing scene, Cho and Tarantino banter as themselves as she tells him what a success he was on the show and persuades him to reappear, à la Bookman on "."
