Trivia

The title is based on an old expression 'Pay the two dollars!' which is a reference to a Depression-era Willie Howard vaudeville sketch written by Billy K. Wells. A man is in court to pay a $2 fine for spitting on the subway, but his lawyer insists on fighting the case. As the lawyer incurs greater and greater sentences, his defendant keeps pleading, "Pay the two dollars!" See more »

Alice pursues her singing career
3 February 2013 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Alice accepts a singing gig at a local bar even though Mel warns her that the bar has a disreputable reputation. But Alice sees this as a big break for her to get into show business. Well, she gets arrested by an overly stereotypical dim-witted Sheriff as a prostitute. Two other women who are indeed prostitutes are also arrested and tell Alice to just pay the fine. When the news of the arrest get in the local paper, Alice's pals at the diner have fun teasing her but she, of course, is mad and is determined to fight the charge. While there are a couple of funny lines in this show, it really falls kind of flat. Not one of the best episodes but still worth a watch.
