Sidney's natural hair is now styled with short bangs. Nevertheless, when she and Vaughn goes to Mexico City to speak to the informant, her bangs are long and swept behind her ears (and nothing suggests she is wearing a wig to this meeting). When she questions Sloane directly after returning from Mexico, her bangs are short again. Later, when they dive for the artifact outside of Japan, Sydney's bangs are long enough to be incorporated into her braid, yet on the plane ride home, her bangs are short once more, revealing that scenes were not shot in chronological order. Jack Bristow: All I have is a paper trail. Not definitive proof but the beginning of what Director Dixon and I believe to be a strong case for the existence of a mole.
Senator Reed: Other than Sloane.
Jack Bristow: Or instead of him. At this point, that is unclear.
Senator Reed: Is it that hard to identify a traitor? Honestly, sometimes I think you people just get too close.

Two birds with one stone
18 December 2009 | by See all my reviews

Lauren has two serious problems: Vaughn is thinking of leaving her, and Jack is already investigating her activities during the last couple of months, suspecting that she may be the Covenant mole inside the CIA. Sark proposes a solution to both problems: kill her father, Senator Reed (who, unlike the other new authority figure of this season, NSC Director Lindsey, is revealed to be not a hypocritical SOB but a noble man) which will simultaneously ensure Vaughn's compassion and give the CIA their "true" mole who got poor innocent and deceived Lauren implicated. She refuses initially, but the Covenant's reach is pretty long. Meanwhile, there is a race for the keys that will open the Rambaldi box that the Covenant acquired in the previous episode: Sydney and Vaughn on one side, Sark and Bomani (remember him?) on the other. Good but not outstanding episode. Interesting to see a minor one-episode character from season 1 make an unexpected return as Vaughn's contact. *** out of 4.
