After escaping from Peyton and her henchmen, and learning she's on a freighter at sea, Sydney goes to the communications room and sends a message to APO routed through the CIA to her whereabouts. Unbeknownst to her, the message is intercepted by a mole at the CIA working for Prophet Five, although APO was able to obtain a piece of the transmission. Wanting to retrieve Sydney, the APO team, Rachel, Tom, Dixon, and Marshall attempt to break into a secured server room located at Langley with the goal of obtaining the remaining part of the transmission. Problems arise, however, when APO is forced to take the hard drive, which triggers an alarm. They manage to escape the situation thanks to former APO agent Eric Weiss who aids them in sneaking past the guards. Although the transmission on the hard drive is corrupted, APO is able to learn who corrupted it. Jack sets a meeting up with the division heads of the CIA and is quickly able to identify the mole. Meanwhile, Tom is revealed to have ... Written by Anonymous

When Marshall runs the decryption program on the hard drive, it decodes the encryption key as 132007479. Later, when Tom runs the decryption program on the witness protection record, it decodes the exact same decryption key. The CIA would never use the same key for multiple records. See more »

Eric Weiss: If you take this tunnel to the end, it'll drop you at the southeast edge of the complex. I've got to go back inside and wipe out the surveillance footage. Oh, if you hear anything about Sydney...
Marcus Dixon: We will.
Eric Weiss: Okay, and one more thing. Next time, just call.

The enemy within
13 February 2010 | by See all my reviews

Realizing she is being held captive on a moving freighter ship, Sydney temporarily breaks free and sends an S.O.S signal to APO. Unfortunately for her, her message is intercepted by someone in the CIA working for Prophet Five before it can reach its destination in full. Jack proposes the risky plan of breaking into the CIA headquarters to retrieve the deleted transmission, and the rest of the APO team agrees to help. Back on the ship, Sydney is captured again and prepped for a mysterious medical procedure. This is one of the lesser "Alias" episodes, definitely not as good as its predecessor ("The Horizon"), though it does have its moments. The most intriguing part is probably Tom's side story, where he uses APO resources to locate the killer of his wife, but when he goes to meet him in person, his agenda turns out to be much different than expected. Nice to see Amy Acker moved up to the main cast list, but why is Élodie Bouchez credited as a "special guest star" when she does NOT appear in this episode at all? *** out of 4.
