Storyline

Nadia's former caretaker, Sophia, has been severely beaten. She contacts Nadia and asks to meet her. Sloane is told by Sophia that she was beaten up, because someone is trying to track Nadia down, so he and Jack decide to tell their daughters the truth. It turns out that Elena Derevko, the third and the cruelest of the Derevko sisters, has been surveying both Sydney and Nadia for a decade. Meanwhile, Jack's doctor advises him to tell Sydney about his illness. Written by Anonymous

Quotes

Dr. Atticus Liddell: A clean conscious, that's a treatment I can stand behind. We both know how this is going to end. We could filter your blood until the cows come home, but there's no changing the outcome. Clear your conscious Jack.
Jack Bristow: That will take another lifetime, at least...
Dr. Atticus Liddell: I'm not suggesting you write your memoirs... Although, I'm sure they would make a hell of a read.

"Alias" does "The Usual Suspects"
18 January 2010 | by See all my reviews

During the first few minutes of "A Clean Conscience", I was worried: oh no, not another mission-of-the-week. Reassuringly, the mission turns out to be more important than it first appears to be: it does not conclude in this episode, it is (still mysteriously) connected to Elena Derevko, and it gives Dixon a great side story about "casualties of war", as he meets an old CIA friend who has now gone deep undercover and has made the decision to sacrifice some innocent lives in order to save many, many more. The mission is one part of the episode; the threat of Elena Derevko is another; the third is Jack's deteriorating health after his exposure to fatal levels of radiation in "Nightingale" (superior acting by Victor Garber here). The episode concludes with a "Usual Suspects"-type plot twist that I did not see coming at all. The only possible disappointment is that Sydney doesn't actually do anything this time. *** out of 4.
