The exterior of the Wellington house is also the Bates house in Psycho.
Veronica Cartwright (Viola Wellington) and Angela Cartwright (Irenee Wellington) are sisters in real life.
Most oddly, several prominent and very well-known actors in this segment are not listed in the cast-list at the end. Tom Conway, who had appeared in previous episodes with due credit, is unlisted as Mr. Wellington, one of the largest supporting roles. Nor are Norma Varden or Harold Innocent named, and all the children in the story appear anonymously. As this series was usually given to identifying even its most briefly-appearing small-part players, this is an inexplicable oversight.
Celeste Holm does not appear in this episode. The characters of "Jenny" and the hostess at the lawn party in the final scene are in fact one and the same person, and the actress playing this person is unmistakably Norma Varden.
This segment derives from a short story by "Saki", a popular writer of the Edward era whose real name was Hector Hugh Munro. He was killed by a German sniper in the trenches during the First World War. The last words he ever uttered were "Put that bloody cigarette out!", directed to a soldier standing near him - the light from the cigarette gave the sniper enough light to make an accurate kill.
