Warning: Spoilers
A visit to the doctors reveals really bad news for Mr Barton. His solution insurance fraud involving a gentlemen tramp played by David Niven. The dream finale never works but it comes as close as it can to working in this short.

Ed Barton is a journalist who gets bad news during his medical. He does not have long to live.

He persuades a vagrant Robert Medhill (David Niven) to attend a medical for an insurance policy for $100.

Ed wants to provide for his wife and child after he is gone. He knows he will fail the medical.

Medhill attends the medical. He also worms into Ed's life. Makes demands for more money, gets a job at the same newspaper.

Medhill even moves into Ed's home and has designs to marry his wife after she is widowed. After all she will get a nice insurance payout.

Ed finds that his life has turned into a nightmare.

A slightly absurd but sinister story. You can anticipate it as Ed tells Medhill everything about himself for the insurance medical.

Niven might not convince as a tramp. Then again the twist in the story might have taken that into account. Although the pay off did not really work for me.
