Storyline

Will and Esther Hollis, a childless American couple, rent an old house in London. Esther is convinced she can hear a child crying though nobody else can. She locates the cries to an upstairs room, which she enters. There is indeed a little girl in the room but Esther has somehow travelled back into the previous century by her actions. Sounds more familiar than ghostly

The couple arriving in a new home and hearing strange, weird sounds from beyond, no use to watch the entire ONE STEP BEYOND series to see that for the first time. And I am sure there has already been a dozen episodes with this very scheme in this series, and also others. But it remains powerful and convincing, especially in a pretty good black and white photo. The eerie atmosphere enhance the entire story. The most intelligent sleuth is to put variations in those schemes. The solution here finally brings us a sort of domestic drama, rather than a horror show. So, forget all the classical features: HAUNTING and other INSIDIOUS.
