Brief comment on an old episode

Warning: Spoilers
This episode of THE ALCOA HOUR is based on THE OLD CURIOSITY SHOP. Dick Swiviller, a neighbor of Little Nell and her grandfather. Like Kit Nubbins, he is targeted in the novel by Quilp and his "legal" creatures Sampson and Sally Brass. But Swiviller notices that there is a small servant in the rooming house he lives in who seems overworked and slightly browbeaten. He takes an interest in her, and (in the course of the novel) she blossoms a bit - at the end he marries her.

Laurence Harvey played Swiviller in this teleplay, and the servant is Diane Cilento. John Laurie and Mary Wickes played Sampson and Sally Brass. It would be curious how the story was handled here, even in a truncated form. Hopefully it was a better retelling of the novel than in the musical THE OLD CURIOSITY SHOP.
