Storyline

Professor Pepperwinkle creates a robot whom he calls Mr. McTavish. It isn't long before Jimmy and Lois learn about him and Pepperwinkle shows him to them. Later Superman shows up but as he is approaching McTavish he starts to feel weak so he leaves. That's when they learn that McTavish placed a meteorite in McTavish which they deduce is kryptonite. Some men who want to blow up the planet for a story they did, decides to use McTavish to assemble the bomb so they take him along with Lois and Jimmy. Back-to-Back Pepperwinkles!
8 March 2007 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Wow, two episodes in a row featuring the great "Professor Pepperwinkle (Phil Tead)! This time, the eccentric old man has invented a lifelike, gentle robot named "Mr McTavish."

Lois and Jimmy get what they think is a crank call from "Miss Taylor" to investigate a "monster" in the area, so they wind up at the scientist's house and meet the robot, courtesy of the inventor. When Clark gets another call from the persistent Miss Taylor, he dons his duds for the Superman uniform and flies over to the professor's house to investigate. There, he meets Lois and Jimmy. However, upon entering the room, Superman feels weak almost faints. It turns out, Mr. McTavish has some kryptonite in him.

Witnessing all this, peeking through a window, was a thug: "Blade", played by the one-and- only Ben Weldon. Blade goes back to his boss "Duke" (John Vivyan) and reports what he saw. His boss, with the aid of another scientific-type guy, played by Orville Sherman, is planning to use some of kind of floating bomb to destroy the Daily Planet building. The gangster- scientist (no name is given) isn't anxious to assemble it himself, though, because it might go off accidentally. Blade suggests bringing it to the robot to assemble. Because of the kryptonite, they won't have to worry about Superman interfering, either.

That's what happens, too, but how does Superman solve this dilemma, save the newspaper building and a tied-up (as usual) Lois Lane? You'll have to watch. It's on "The Adventures of Superman: Seasons Five and Six" DVD.
