- A movie is being filmed about mobster Luigi Dinelli. The film is based on a series of articles that Clark Kent wrote for the Daily Planet. Dinelli is more than displeased. He orders a hit on Clark before the reporter and Inspector Henderson can leave for Hollywood to observe filming. Later, an actor on the movie is killed when real ammunition has been substituted for blanks. Clark, in both his civilian and Superman identities, works to put Dinelli away for good.—Bill Koenig
- Synopsis - Czar of the Underworld Two gangsters across the street from Clark Kent's office attempt to assassinate Clark before he can travel to California. The Inspector is getting in the way, a shot rings out, the lamp is shot between Kent and Henderson, Clark saying not to worry about it, we have a plane to catch. A limo driver awaits the two from Metropolis, but the intended limo driver is pushed out of the way and a Dinelli limo driver replaces him. The fake limo drive puts the luggage in the trunk and goes directly to a garage where the lights go out, he ducts out, closing the garage door, gets into the car with his associate, and gets their heads banged together by Superman from the back seat. Clark opens the garage door, tells Henderson somebody was out to get them again; Clark gets behind the wheel and drives to the studio. The gangland activity has been extensive as Dinelli persists in prevent the filming. The star of the movie, Allen Dexter, was killed by a bullet fired from a studio prop. The announcement of the murder comes over the wire service as Olsen bursts into White's office with the news. Mr. White gets the studio on the phone, namely Henderson, shouting why does he have to hear about these crimes over the wire service when he has a reporter on the scene. Clark takes up residence in the on-set dead movie star's trailer and he has a talk with the studio Police Chief. His conversation entails the desire to get information on Frank Dinelli, but the policeman says after Frank was released from San Quentin in 1938, nobody has heard from him. Clark tells the Chief he wants to visit a friend, declining a ride. Dinelli says to henchman Ollie, tell Frank he is working late tonight. Superman crashes through the window of Dinelli's surprising him, he calls his henchmen, Ollie and Tommy, which Superman makes them pay, he then punches out Dinelli, taking him to the studio trailer. Superman drops by the hotel notifying Henderson of his placement of Dinelli; any plans of sabotage, better Dinelli, than Kent in the trailer. Superman invites him back to the movie set where things are bound to be happening. A man enters near the trailer, with hat and raincoat covering him, connects a hose from the exhaust of the car to the trailer, starting the engine. He climbs the rafter stairs as Henderson and Superman enter the area. Henderson hears a noise, it's the car running, Superman disconnects the hose, Henderson opens the trailer door, the man in the rafters makes a noise, Superman hears him, tells Henderson that's our murderer. Superman bounds up to the rafter while the man fires shots. He runs out of rafter, falls to the floor, Henderson sees it's the Chief of Police, but it's really Frank Dinelli, just as his brother Luigi shoots him dead from the trailer. Henderson cuffs Luigi, who admits Frank put the live bullet in the rifle that killed Allen Dexter and both tell Luigi he murdered Frank.
