Storyline

Fired by editor Perry White (John Hamilton), disgraced reporter Clark Kent (George Reeves) joins a gang of diamond thieves. Unbeknownst to fellow reporters Lois (Noel Neill) and Jimmy (Jack Larson), Clark's criminal career is but a sham, a scheme cooked up between Kent and White to trap the real crooks and turn them over to the law. Even so, Clark is forced to prove his loyalty to the gang by "eliminating" Lois and Jimmy, binding the hapless duo to a chair which is then set afire! Isn't it about time for Clark to sneak into that closet and change into Superman? Written by anyamarie42

Clark Kent Is Framed!
10 August 2006 | by See all my reviews

A couple of hoods, show regulars you see all the time but don't know their names, are holed up in a shack in a shootout with police. Perry White and Clark Kent drive in (in a convertible, no less, despite bullets flying in their direction.).

After tear gas in lobbed into the shack, one crook (played by regular John Doucette, who looks a lot like Ben Welden) comes out and, before he is handcuffed, plants a wad of bills in the glove compartment of Kent's car. The other crook has a stick of dynamite and is about to throw it but Superman appears out of nowhere and literally steps on the sticks, muffling the blast.

With both crooks now in custody, Doucette implicates Kent. Lo and behold, the money is found in Kent's car and Insp. Henderson, much to his chagrin, has no choice but arrest Kent along with the other two.

Later, Clark asks Perry White, who believes Kent is innocent, to "fire" him nonetheless so Kent can try to become one of the mob member and find out who heading this gang.

The rest of the story is very interesting as we see Kent proving himself to the big boys, a snooping Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen becoming captives (what else is new?), Superman flying to South Africa to get diamonds, Perry White being drugged, on and on. Lots of stuff in here. The only disappointment was the ending, which was abrupt and not equal to the rest of the show.
