Jill Esmond as Queen Eleanor is highlight of this episode
22 February 2013 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

The Queen Mother, Eleanor of Aquitaine, is in Nottinghamshire raising money for King Richard's crusade against the Saracens. The ever conniving Sheriff of Nottingham makes a significant donation but intends to waylay the Queen and steal all the money she has collected throughout England. The Sheriff plans a subterfuge that will lay the blame on Robin for the theft. Marian and Eleanor are friends and she persuades Eleanor that Robin can be trusted. There is humor and trickery in this episode and Jill Esmond as Eleanor is appropriately regal. At the end Eleanor tells Marian that if she were young enough she could take quite a liking to Robin. She asks Marian "How old are you?" Marian replies "Young enough." An entertaining episode but then all the Adventures are. I had gone years without hearing about Eleanor of Aquitaine. Just two days ago, I finished reading a Louise Penny book wherein Eleanor of Aquitaine was prominently referred to. Now that is a historical person with staying power.
