Unknown to everyone he is a witness to a gangland murder and a hit has been ordered on him. Their patrol car has a tire shot out in an ambush and they find themselves isolated in the hills of the area and no radio contact. Reed goes for help but is captured by the hit men. Trivia

Footage of this episode is shown in Emergency!: Hang-Up (1972). At the point where Reed is held hostage and the exchange offer is made, Station 51 gets a call and the crew has to leave and missed the end of Adam-12. Gage spends the majority of the episode trying to figure out ways he can find out Reed and Malloy's fate. In an interesting point, they finally decide to give up and wait to see it on a rerun. However, this episode of Adam-12 aired originally in November and the episode of Emergency aired in early April so technically they would have already been watching the rerun. The episode would have never been re-aired or so would have been believed by 1970s TV-watching standards. See more »
