Storyline

A Vegas casino falters, because their chips are being counterfeited. "The Meteor" hires Stu, who discovers the plastics company that's making the counterfeits, then goes undercover as a cardsharp from Miami, to find out if the scheme's mastermind is relocated Chicago gangster Frenchy LaTour (Goldfield, Nevada native Brad Dexter - Harry Luck in "The Magnificent Seven"). The menacing Frenchy is also suspected of fitting his former boss Big Ears Beecham with a concrete kimono. Includes the second credited filmed performance by Dyan Cannon. Written by David Stevens

With the care of the US Mint
6 January 2017 | by (Buffalo, New York) – See all my reviews

This episode of 77 Sunset Strip has Efrem Zimbalist getting as a client Russ Conway who is a casino owner from Las Vegas who is being systematically robbed by someone using some very good counterfeit chips. In fact there's a bit of this episode where we see the process used by the casino owners in designing their chips. It's a lot like the US Mint and since these chips mean cash just as much security is taken.

Which leaves identifying who could be doing this fairly easy for Zimbalist. The trick is who is behind the scheme and to catch them with the counterfeit chips.

Which means Zimbalist goes undercover as a gambler/gangster and it leads to Brad Dexter. When Stu Bailey's cover is blown it's a close run thing.

Featured in the story is Ruta Lee an aspiring lounge singer who turns out to be a friend indeed for Zimbalist.

Entertaining but also instructive about how casino chips are made and protected in the days before computers.
