Country bumpkin singing (!!) sensation with saccharine sweet girlfriend is target of assassin. Rex (the wonder dick) must protect the talentless turnip from the bad guy. I said this before. It's a good show because it's like Roger Corman on television. Almost serio-comic because you just know they can't take themselves seriously, can they? Roger Smith can't sing or play guitar, neither can the alleged new star that's the target. Cloris Leachman does a good job. John Dehner is brilliant as a Kentucky Colonel promoter who is hilariously evil - Cloris is his squeeze.

If you love music, don't listen to the caterwailing OR chopped up guitar offered as well reasons to take music lessons. Now, this may have actually helped launch some careers in music. Any fifth or sixth grader who heard these guy's lame attempts at guitar/vocals HAD to take heart and start music lessons themselves.

Come to think of it, this is kinda like Hollywood, Batman without the costumes. You might like it - I did.
