The Tales Of Marwan, Audrey, Jack, Paul & Curtis

Author: ccthemovieman-1 from United States
10 November 2007

The beginning of this episode is extremely annoying and unrealistic. Jack has to interrogate Audrey's husband, who owns the building the terrorists operated out of. It get unpleasant but instead of demanding she leave the room, he asks her. Of course she's say "no, I'm staying." All the women in this show never do what you ask them. In real life, this is not an option - she leaves the room, period. But, no, she stays and is offended that Jack gets rough and the camera keeps showing her with shocked expressions. Give me a break!!! I wonder if this fickle woman is going to use this as an excuse to all of a sudden dump Jack, that he's not the sweet-and-sensitive type. Puh-leeze. Of course, I could be dead wrong, but I've never like this skinny chick from the first episode and question whether she and Jack are a good thing together. We'll see.

Meanwhile, Curtis does a nice job of getting out of a bad situation - sort of - and it looks like "Marwan," the head of this whole operation, might get caught. Now, everyone in C.T.U. knows he's the head man. They also know where he is, and that he has the "override." There's one big problem: the season is only halfway over! They can't finish. And.....sure enough....."Marwan" escapes.

At least the power plants are all shut down to avert a disaster, but they have to find this lead terrorist, anyway. He may have other things up his sleeve. They find out he worked, unknown to the company, at the McLennan-Forster, the third-biggest defense contractor in the country. One of the key people in their organization convinces the president of the company to not cooperate with the C.T.U. because it would be the end of their business. Nice, huh?

That's nothing: wait until you see what they do! Actually, it's pretty cool.

An Eventful Hour

Author: Desertman84 from United States
12 September 2012

*** This review may contain spoilers ***

Jack tortures Paul Raines in front of Audrey, which shocks her. Habib Marwan, the terrorist in charge of orchestrating the day's events, is discovered to be an employee at McLennan-Forster under an alias. Curtis, as it transpires, is being held captive in the same building where Marwan is working to meltdown the rest of the power plants. Curtis manages to kill his captors and escape, before linking up with Jack, who is leading an operation to capture Marwan. Unfortunately they do not know what Marwan looks like and Marwan is able to take advantage of this and spot them entering the office. He escapes but is forced to leave behind the override device. Driscoll's daughter Maya commits suicide in the clinic bathroom.

In summary, here the events that happened during that hour:

1.Jack confronted Paul Raines about his name being on the lease of the building where the terrorists planned the attacks. Paul claimed he knew nothing. Jack tortured him in front of Audrey, who begged him to stop.

2.Paul looked up the lease information on his laptop and gave Jack a name: Harris Barnes.

3.Sarah Gavin ran a search for the name "Harris Barnes" and discovered that it was an alias used by a man named Habib Marwan.

4.Jack went to the Rockland Building, where Curtis and Marianne Taylor had gone to retrieve a computer file, but were ambushed by Marwan's men.

5.Jack Bauer found Curtis, who explained that he'd overheard a conversation between Marwan and Forbes, and that Marwan was in the building with the override device.

6.Marwan spotted Jack and Curtis and created a panic by firing a gun in an office. He disappeared in the crowd, and escaped after impersonating and killing a CTU agent. Curtis found the override and called Edgar for help. Edgar logged onto the override and stopped the remaining nuclear reactors from melting down.

7.Erin Driscoll got an urgent call from the CTU medical clinic about her daughter, Maya. When she finally went to the clinic, she discovered Maya had committed suicide.

A lot of things happen in this hour.

The depiction of the politics of torture is what many have been critical of 24.Again,it happens in this episode as Jack tortures Paul to extract information.

Also,we get to see Erin's unstable daughter die after committing suicide. How will this affect her as CTU head especially in this times of crisis? We'll find out soon.

Finally,Marwan has been identified using a false name. But they are unable to capture him so the potential nuclear holocaust remains.
