Exciting And Entertaining Penultimate Episode
12 September 2012 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

After Cheng Zhi brings evidence to CTU of their involvement in the raid on the Chinese consulate, Agent Howard Bern flies to San Diego to establish an alibi, but on arrival is kidnapped by Cheng. After being threatened with life imprisonment at a labor camp on the Chinese-Siberia border he soon names Jack Bauer as the leader of the raid. Mandy attempts to escape by faking her and Tony's death in a car bomb. In the aftermath Jack refuses to pull his team out to refocus on the search for the missile and soon finds discrepancies in the recording of Mandy's last phone call before the explosion. As Mandy attempts to escape she is cornered by Jack and Curtis in the parking lot and apprehended by Jack. In exchange for Marwan's location she is given immunity.

In summary, here the events that happened during that hour:

1.Bill Buchanan tells CTU Agent Howard Bern that the Chinese are still insinuating that CTU was responsible for the attack on their consulate. They have to ensure any surveillance video of Bern is destroyed. Bern is captured by the Chinese and interrogated.

2.Buchanan informs everyone that the nuclear warhead is using stealth technology and can't be tracked on radar. The missile is traveling at 600 miles per hour and could hit any city target in three hours on either coast. Logan wants to know how CTU will handle the problem. Logan tells David Palmer that he failed the country.

3.Jack pulls his gun on Mandy, who's using Tony Almeida as a body shield. Mandy asks Jack if he has the guts to let her kill Tony while looking him in the eye. Jack says yes. Curtis disarms Mandy from behind, and Jack offers her a deal. She insists on seeing the signed pardon before talking.

Mandy takes center stage in this episode as she tries to fake her death and escape. With Tony as her hostage, Mandy attempts to get Michelle to help her escape, echoing Tony's act of treason to save her in Day 3.But then, she fails. She instead get captured and offers a deal to locate Marwan, who seems at this point looks like a formidable villain.Credit Jack for it.

With regards to the missile flying,it was known that the CTU radar can't locate it.But Jack isn't giving up.He is determined than ever to locate it before it hit its target within three hours. That puts tremendous pressure on him to succeed or millions will be killed.

This was an excellent penultimate episode of Day 4 that makes it exciting to watch the conclusion.
