The helicopter with Jack and his daughter gets to Santa Barbara in about 13 minutes. It's roughly 95.3 miles from L.A. to Santa Barbara, which means they were traveling by helicopter at 430 miles per hour! That's absurdly fast for the helicopter we see them in. See more »

The job gets personal
8 May 2017 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

There's no shying away from the usual high-dose action here, but it's great to see some genuine espionage. Using Kim to stand in for Saunders' kid adds some nice tension as Jack has to send his child out into the field. There's a great scene with Kiefer Sutherland channeling his impotent rage when the decision is made without his input. And it speaks volumes that this is the real meat of the episode, even as CTU's scrambling to contain the outbreak.

This wrings plenty of residual drama out of Chapelle's death in the opening moments, but it keeps the pulse pounding til the very end.
