In this episode, Judy is raped by a med student. She is a cop, and a feminist, so I have a hard time believing she would keep the crime to herself. Given her character, she would go to the hospital and report it. I know that experience is different for every woman, but hiding it just doesn't jive with her character as she's been so far in this show.
Beyond this episode, in a previous one, she took the sergeant's exam and passed on her first try, which is difficult, as I understand it. But it feels like she is young to even take the test. But I don't think that passing that test promotes her to detective. That promotion is based on merit and job performance.
Character development in this show is a bit bumpy.
