Protecting An AIDS Patient
12 April 2015 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

"A Big Disease With a Little Name" is the thirteenth episode of the second season that deals with AIDS.It was shown at a time when people still have limited knowledge of the disease and when many Americans attribute it that only gays can have the it due to their sexual practice. In it,Officer Tom Hanson is assigned to protect a student who has AIDS as he is unwelcome in his school. On the side story,Officer Bruce Penhall's life is turned upside down after an old girlfriend who broke up with him a couple of years ago returns and decides to live with him.

I credit the show's writers about providing awareness about AIDS at a time when people attribute the disease to a certain group of people and when many still are not knowledgeable about the disease. At least,we get to see the crew get involved with a student who has it and maturity finally prevailed over Hanson when he seems not at all like the assignment given to him.At least,we get to see how respect should be given to people regardless of what group they belong in society. Also, the love life of Officer Penhall thrown into the episode provided joy and humor to the episode.
