Trivia

Dana Carvey could not attend, but did record a new "Where are they now" spoof with Kevin Nealon as Hans and Franz. However, when the show ran late this sketch was cut. It was first broadcast on 16 October 1999, during an episode of SNL hosted by Heather Graham. The Hanz and Franz skit is still included on the DVD of the 25th Anniversary. See more »

Quotes

Christopher Walken: I want to know how much of the show is scripted and how much crazy make'em up: you know, addlibs, improvs.
Tom Hanks: A legidiment question. Contrary to popular belief, the show is not improvised, SNL has a great staff of writers that craft every line of the show.
Christopher Walken: When I host, I say whatever I want. I free associate and I make up the skits and things like that and people seem to enjoy it.

Hysterical--could watch it again and again
22 July 2004 | by See all my reviews

Okay, I'm a huge fan of SNL and have been for almost three years. I bought this at my local bookstore in February 2004. I paid a hunk of cash for it too, but it was totally worth it.

It is consistently funny from beginning to end. I have probably watched it all the way through somewhere around 10 times. And I never tire of it.

I was only born in 1990 and they never reran SNLs from 1975-1980, which I had heard were the best. It was great seeing some of those sketches, even if they were shown in 30-second chunks. I'm glad that they put "Chippendale's" and "Chopping Broccoli" on there...the special wouldn't have been complete without them!

My only complaint is that it could've used a Tonto, Tarzan, and Frankenstein sketch. I have heard that those are hilariously funny and I've been dying to see one for a long time now.
