Garth over at Dark Horizons has scored a new piece of promotional artwork for Dorian Gray, an adaptation of the classic Oscar Wilde novel starring Ben Barnes (The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian), Colin Firth, Emilia Fox, Rebecca Hall, Fiona Shaw, Caroline Goodall and Ben Chaplin. Check it out below. Directed by Oliver Parker (An Ideal Husband), the film centers on a corrupt young man who somehow keeps his youthful beauty eternally, but a special painting gradually reveals his inner ugliness to all. It opens in September in the UK. A North American release date is still Tbd.

There are awards shows that mean something, and then there’s the MTV Movie Awards. The Oscars and the Globes recognize talent, while events like the Teen Choice Awards and the redundant MTV show go for stunts and heartthrobs.
This year was no exception as the predictable ceremony unfolded live yet so obviously scripted. The only mildly interesting moments were categories that somehow didn’t include Twilight or High School Musical 3. Even Sacha Baron Cohen’s bare ass swooping in on Eminem looked staged. Somehow sillier was Zac Efron’s heartfelt acceptance of the golden bucket of popcorn after a half-naked man flew into the theater, or Ashley Tisdale gushing over her “Breakthrough Female Performance” win like it meant something.
Twilight picked up five statues, including “Best Movie” (over The Dark Knight), “Best Kiss,” and “Best Fight.” Kristen Stewart won “Best Female Performance.” Robert Pattinson won “Breakthrough Male Performance” (no

Maybe I’m just out of touch with today’s youth culture, but as I look over this “winners list” from the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, I can’t help but feel like a crotchety old man who complains about the kids today with their loud music and funny ways of talking. The Twilight Saga wiped the floor with the competition, proving that vampire romance is the current king of pop culture, for better or worse.
In the interest of fairness, Screen Rant presents the complete list of winners from the 2009 MTV Movie Awards. Be wary, though: your head may explode as you read which actors and films lost to Twilight.
Here are the nominees listed by category (winners are highlighted in red). Shout-out to Slash Film for once again compiling an easy list for yours truly to copy and paste:

Batman and James Bond helped make 2008 a bumper year for U.K. movies - British films raked in more than $3.75 billion (£2.5 billion) at the global box office last year.
The Dark Knight, starring Christian Bale and the late Heath Ledger, was the top earner, with just over $1 billion (£666 million) in sales and Quantum Of Solace took $576 million (£384 million) worldwide.
Abba movie musical Mamma Mia!, featuring Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan, also proved a box office smash, taking $602 million (£401 million) since its release in July.
Other Brit films in the top 10 earners of 2008 include fantasy film The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian which took $419 million (£279 million) and The Other Boleyn Girl, starring Natalie Portman, which garnered $75 million (£50 million).
John Woodward of the U.K. Film Council says, "That's a phenomenal achievement and a measure of film's contribution to the wider economy."
Movies are classified as British if they meet criteria on whether the stars, directors, producers and funding come from the U.K.

Jessica Biel was secretly glad to learn she couldn't ride a motorcycle in a movie fox hunt on the set of Easy Virtue - because she detests bloodsports.
Insurance bosses refused to allow the actress to actually ride in the hoax hunt - alongside horses and hounds - and so she had to ride a stationary bike for her close-ups as her double took off across rural England.
Biel reveals, "We faked it. I was shot in close-up sitting on a stationary bike and then they had a double ride. They didn't get the insurance for me to ride the bike, which happens all the time.
"I never really get to do all the fun stuff. I would've wanted to ride but I'm not really a fan of the fox hunt. It's not really what I'm into; I don't really want to shoot (sic) animals like that."
Her movie husband Ben Barnes wasn't quite so lucky - he insists director Stephan Elliott made him ride a horse, despite the fact insurance bosses wouldn't let him.
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian star tells WENN, "I'm happy to say that I've never been on a traditional hunt, nor do I think I ever would, but this particular hunt in the film was on the very last day of shooting. Jessica had gone home, Kristin Scott Thomas didn't ride horses and Colin Firth's character wasn't involved in the hunt at all, so, basically, I was the only person left on set riding this horse because I had experience riding horses with the Narnia films.
"So Stephan Elliott was basically begging me to get onto this horse because, otherwise, he was gonna have to mix and match a selection of computer-generated shots and faraway shots of stuntmen riding horses."
But the idea almost landed Elliott in big trouble and Barnes in hospital: "I got on the horse, having prided myself on never having fallen off a horse during the seven months of making Narnia, and the very first take of this particular shot there was a huge ditch in the field and the horse just bucked me off the back. I turned around to see 40 or 50 huntsmen and women coming at me at full speed on horseback, so I sort of just threw myself out of the way and you could just hear producers running over and going, 'Noooo!'"

Earlier today, ComingSoon.net spoke with actor Ben Barnes, best known as the title character of Disney's The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian , about his role in the adaptation of Noel Coward's Easy Virtue , but the horror enthusiasts will probably want to know more about his starring role in the upcoming Dorian Gray , based on the story by Oscar Wilde. In the movie, Barnes plays a 50-year-old man living in the body of a 20-something-year-old, having maintained his youth with the help of a painting that has the magical properties to take on his natural aging process. Even though there have been many adaptations and versions of Wilde's tale, we asked Barnes if this new version was going to be a very different take on the story than we've seen in previous films and TV...

British actor Ben Barnes caused himself and film insurers a huge headache when he rode a horse into a tree on the set of period comedy Easy Virtue.
The actor had learned to ride for his role in Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian and was desperate to be a part of a fox hunting scene in the film adaptation of Noel Coward's hilarious play - but insurers insisted he keep his feet on the ground.
Director Stephan Elliott recalls, "Ben really wanted to ride in the hunt scene, which was the last thing we shot, but the insurance company wouldn't let him. It was such a shame because he'd learned to ride for Prince Caspian and he knew he was good on a horse.
"I put all the money we had left into this hunt and it looked great, so I just said, 'Ben, get on the horse.' He was thrilled... The producers found out too late and I could see them rushing to the set, where they'd attempt to pull him off the horse.
"I yelled, 'Action,' the hunt took off and Ben rode his horse straight into a tree, was thrown off and knocked himself out. He was fine but for a minute there, I was really concerned... but I thought, 'Well I've got what I need and they can't take the film away from me.' The insurance company guys were not happy."

God bless the MTV Movie Awards.
They have the same self-indulgence but lack the arrogance of the People’s Choice Awards, and they always offer the best excuse for movies that came out last summer to get re-hyped as if they still haven’t come out yet. Plus, it’s probably the only award show where a film selected by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as “Best Picture” has the chance of losing to a movie called High School Musical 3: Senior Year.
Nominees for this year’s awards (which can be seen live on May 31st) were announced a few days ago, with Slumdog Millionaire and Twilight getting six nominations each. Totally more awesome than the Golden Globes, this award show aims at the real important elements of a good film. Some categories include “Best Kiss,” “Best Fight,” and even “Best Wtf Moment.” Suck it, Oscar!

MTV has officially announced the nominated movies for their annual movie awards, scheduled for May 31, 2009. Andy Samberg is hosting this year’s awards show.
The MTV Movie Awards fits somewhere in the third tier of kudocasts around the importance of the People’s Choice Awards. What’s worse, a mere nomination for an MTV Movie Award is about as validating as a “World’s Greatest Dad” coffee mug. The entire broadcast is usually good for about one and a half viral videos that make it to YouTube hours later, which should save you the agony of watching teen idols weep with gratitude while cradling a golden bucket of popcorn.
Every year MTV creates their own “hip” category to keep in touch with their audience too young to remember when the channel played music. Two years ago it was “Best Summer Movie You Haven’t Seen Yet.” Transformers won. Quality. In

You might think that after Slumdog Millionaire cleaned up at the Oscars back in February, any and all questions about the best movies of 2008 had been definitively answered. But of course, you'd be wrong. The most prestigious movie awards of all are still yet to come... and guess what Slumdog? You've got some serious competition in the form of a little movie called Twilight! Everyone knows that the MTV Movie Awards are a joke, and I won't waste much time analyzing their list of nominees. However, I am glad to see that this year they've introduced a category for "Best Wtf Moment" because, you know, the whole award show is basically a Wtf moment! When you've got High School Musical 3 up against Slumdog Millionaire for Best Movie, it kinda calls into question your judging criteria... and are we really supposed to compare Kate Winslet's performance in The Reader to Anne Hathaway in Bride Wars?
