A real treat for the Titanic buff
10 February 2006 | by (United Kingdom) – See all my reviews

This is a documentary chronicling James Camerons last voyage to search the wreckage of the Titanic and is presented by Tony Robinson. It's a very well made doc in the way it's presented and really gets to the heart of the matter. There are a lot of talking heads going into detail about what the crew are going to do and this aspect of the doc becomes tiresome quite quickly. But when Cameron is actually exploring the Titanic they do come across some new findings as they would've hoped to. This was the furthest anyone has gone into the Titanic since the wreckage in 1912 and on the first trip down in the submarine to the ship, the team do come across some interesting revelations and even finding a clock which if analyzed throughly could tell the time when the ship actually started to sink. This got the historians really excited but i was just content. On the final voyage down to the ship towards the end of the documentary, Tony Robinson gets a ride in the submarine along with Cameron and is quite fascinating. Cameron seems like a nice guy and unlike the man who bossed his crews around like crazy during the making of his films. The documentary keeps to the subject in hand and doesn't steer off into talk about ALiens, Terminator, and even Titanic. Prematurely however, the robot cameras stopped working on the very last voyage and it we the viewers were left just as disappointed as the crew were to find that because of technical problems, nothing significant was discovered on the very last voyage. This is a good documentary in my view but only the Titanic buffs will really enjoy it. For everyone else, it's just a OK programme.
