Cma Awards 2017: What You Didn’t See on TV
Amid a year rife with tragedy and division, the 2017 Cma Awards was a show of music unity, from the feel-good opening number — an all-star rendition of Hootie and the Blowfish’ “Hold My Hand” — to the night’s speeches: “I feel like we’re bonded together and banded together more than we ever have been,” Miranda Lambert told the crowd as she picked up her female vocalist trophy.

But behind the scenes, the country love fest seemed even cozier.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill made slow progress back to their front-row seats after singing in the opener because of the number

How FX became TV's best, most reliable network
It was early in the development of The Americans that the head of FX told the show’s creator what his series was really about — and was absolutely right. Joe Weisberg had planned to generate drama in the fake marriage between deep cover spies Philip and Elizabeth Jennings on ideological grounds: Philip was beginning to feel too comfortable in America, while Elizabeth stayed true to her Mother Russian roots. Then in a meeting with FX executives, FX CEO John Landgraf proposed adding another layer to things. “John had the idea that it would be very powerful and effective if Philip were really more in love with Elizabeth than Elizabeth were with Philip,” Weisberg said. “And you know how central that has become to the whole story of the show and the marriage. (The ideological argument) seemed like a good solid idea for what would create tension in the marriage, but

The Definitive Movies of 1995

10. Waterworld

Directed by: Kevin Reynolds

It could be the flop of all flops. At the time, “Waterworld” was the most expensive film ever made. Starring Kevin Costner, “Waterworld” is a science-fiction/fantasy film taking place roughly 500 years after the polar ice caps melted in the beginning of the 21st century, effectively covering the entire world with water. Dirt has become a commodity and an unknown traveler named “the Mariner” (Costner) is trying to find anywhere to trade his stash. The catch: he’s a mutant, with gills, allowing him to breathe underwater. He is joined by a woman named Helen (Jeannie Tripplehorn) and child named Enola (Tina Majorino) with an elaborate map tattooed on her back. They sail the world and encounter various groups of survivors. They are pursued by a group of evil forces, led by an eye-patched man called “the Deacon” (Dennis Hopper). The special effects are actually pretty impressive,

The Rise, Fall and Rise of Jennifer Aniston

During the 1990s, Jennifer Aniston was one of the most popular actresses in the world. She may not have been blowing up the box office like Julia Roberts, Meg Ryan or Sandra Bullock, she was instead the star of the hit comedy show Friends – which had turned her into a household name. So popular was Aniston during this period that he hair even became known as “The Rachel”, a much-requested style for hairdressers during the 90s. The show was watched by millions around the world and has become one of the most celebrated Us sitcoms of all-time, launching Aniston and her co-stars into hot property. Particularly as the show couldn’t last forever and the cast would look to transition to the big screen.

Aniston was no stranger to cinema. She got her first break in the horror comedy Leprechaun in 1993, but would take a break during her first few years on Friends.
