Storyline

Jimmie has a good job in an office where there is a bevy of pretty girls, but being at that age where his appreciation of the fair sex has not developed, he considers them inferior to him. So it is his pleasure to make all the fun he can for himself at their expense. This time he reckons without his host. There is plenty for Jimmie to do, errands to be run and dust to be kept off the furniture in the office. Lunch time comes around; the girls all chip in and get Jimmie to buy their lunch, but not a minute does he do it without "getting his" in the shape of a generous tip. Soon in he comes with an armful, ginger ale and bananas for himself, ice cream, pickles, crackers and what not for the girls. It is a royal feast and they enjoy it. There is one pretty girl in the office who powders her face too often to suit Jimmie and he consequently chides her about it. She daubs his face with the puff. This is too much for his boyish pride and he decides to get even. He does so, and so do they. ... Written by Moving Picture World synopsis

The Hazing

Yale Boss is the new office boy at a firm where most of the office staff is composed of attractive young women. They play a few pranks of the latest hire and he seeks his revenge in this mild split-reel comedy from Edison.

Although the ladies who make up the staff are attractive, this short comedy is shot very simply -- mostly on one set -- with what was by 1912, an old-fashioned story line of practical joke followed by another practical joke, ending in a group portrait. Over at Vitagraph, far more sophisticated comedies were being produced and within months Mack Sennett would begin a revolution in slapstick at Keystone.
