The Aftermath
I surmise that Thanhouser rushed this thrugh production to get it to the movie theaters, if only from the misspelling of 'Senator' on one of the titles.
When filming at the studio, Thanhouser's cameramen used fixed camera placements, and the directors seemed to prefer the cameras stationary. This is a film of moving shots, as the camera pans to the right from an ordinary building to the one next to it, half wrecked, to a field of devastation like an angry child went stomping through his toys. People caught in the remains of the town stare resentfully at the camera. Others walk through its field of vision, unheeding. No matter where the camera looks, a town of 3000 people has been reduced to a muddy graveyard with snapped planks strewn about.
