Enjoyable film revolves around a candid maid who becomes involved into several troubles when she attempts to care their sons
ma-cortes20 February 2014
An old and ingenuous woman named Cándida (a newcomer Candida Villar) is an lowly maid in Madrid, where she scrapes to get by and help her two useless sons , a druggie called Javi and a schizophrenic called Julian . As her family situation goes from bad to worse, her travails inspire other people . She works as a maid , cleaning sight seeing bus and houses as Marquesa De Banco De España (María Elena Fesser , mother of director and writer , Guillermo and Javier Fesser) home . Candida has an accident and meets a TV presenter named Pablo (Jorge Bosch) , both of whom become into good friends .

Sensitive film full of good feeling , offbeat characters , haunting mood-pieces , fun scenes and sense of style but not totally satisfactory , including conventional pitfalls . Agreeable acting by Candida Villar as a nice naive person and sympathetic Jorge Bosch as a presenter who becomes involved into Candida's family problems . The picture is pretty well but results to be inferior to Guillermo Fesser's previous entries , as ¨Mortadelo and Filemon¨ and Milagro de P. Tinto¨ . The main character, Candida Villar, was assistant at the director Guillermo Fesser's house. He was so amused by the comments she usually made about films that he contracted her as a cinematic critic in his radio show 'Gomaespuma'. Later Guillermo decided to make this film in Honor to all the assistants in the world . Colorful cinematography by Josep M. Civit showing splendidly the Madrid slums and the United States , where is set the end of the film . Josep M Civit is one of the best Spanish cameramen as he has demonstrated in "The Hidden Face" , ¨Shiver¨, ¨Warriors¨ , ¨The Absent" , ¨Asphalt¨ , ¨Anguish¨ and many others . The picture achieved some prizes and nominations as was nominated Goya Awards 2008 Best Original Song , Jorge Drexler , and Won Turia Awards 2007 Huevo de Colón Award to Guillermo Fesser .

The motion picture was well directed by Guillermo Fesser , though he overdoes the same premise , Candida's ingenuousness . Writer/Actor/ Director Guillermo Fesser was born in 1960 in Madrid . He is a writer and actor, and along his brother Javier Fesser forms the Radio comical group ¨Gomaespuma¨ , both of them have written and directed some amusing films , such as : The miracle of P. Tinto (1998), The great adventure of Mortadelo y Filemón (2003) and this Cándida (2006).

What a beautiful movie!!!

I'm very surprised that such a beautiful movie is so much underrated...

Why I'm calling it beautiful because it shows the life from the view of a beautiful person and mother...

I bet you've never watched such a well directed movie with such magnificent acting since ''driving miss daisy'' or ''fried green tomatoes ''...

Ypu just sit and wonder how would my life be if I was Candida...

It's a very good comedy as much as a very good drama it is...

You have to watch it... Don't miss it...

definitely 10/10
