In today’s roundup, Discovery released the first look at the upcoming Unabomber series, while A&E Notorious Big documentary sets a premiere date.

First Looks

Discovery released the first look at the scripted anthology miniseries, “Manhunt: Unabomber” starring Paul Bettany as Ted Kaczynski. The first installment tells the true story of the FBI’s hunt for Kaczynski, better known as the Unabomber, the deadliest serial bomber in history. The story focuses on FBI agent and criminal profiler Jim Fitzgerald, who along with the Unabomb Task Force, ultimately captured the notorious criminal in his remote cabin in Montana. The cast also includes Chris NothKeisha Castle-HughesJane Lynch, Mark Duplass, and Brian d’Arcy James. The series will premiere on Tuesday, August 1 at 9  p.m. Watch the trailer below.

Julianne Nicholson has landed the role of defense attorney Jill Lansing in NBC’s “Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders.”  This marks Nicholson’s fourth series with “Law & Order” franchise creator Dick Wolf. The actress guest-starred on the original “Law and Order,” was a series regular on “Conviction” and co-starred in “Law & Order: Criminal Intent.” Launching this fall, “Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders” is an eight-episode series offering a dramatization of the real-life murder trial of Lyle and Erik Menendez that dominated headlines in the 1990s. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Renewed for Season 5 at ABC

Marvel-ous news for patient Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans: ABC has renewed the ratings-challenged but creatively re-energized series for Season 5, ending many months of speculation about its future.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. this season has averaged 2.4 million weekly total viewers and a 0.7 demo rating, down 30 and 40 percent from Season 3. Among ABC dramas, it equals Quantico, The Catch and died-on-the-vine Conviction in the demo, and outperforms short-lived freshman Time After Time and Season 3 of American Crime.

Network executives are currently hard at work evaluating new programming for the 2017-2018 television season, but pilots aren’t the only projects that require decisions. Veteran shows are also up in the air and possibly on the chopping block.

Many returning series have already been renewed, but there is still a healthy portion of shows still on the bubble. Fox’s “Pitch,” NBC’s “Powerless” and “Emerald City” have kicked off the TV industry’s annual blood bath — so which shows will follow?

Though the majority of the final decisions won’t come until just before the week of May 15 for Upfronts, Variety has the early buzz from industry insiders.

The Inhumans: Anson Mount Cast in ABC/Marvel Series' Lead Role

To find the lead for its upcoming Marvel’s The Inhumans, ABC went to hell. On wheels.

Hell on Wheels star Anson Mount will play Black Bolt in the upcoming comics-based drama, Marvel announced Tuesday.

Per the official release, Black Bolt is the “enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans, with a voice so powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city.”

The eight-episode series will tell the story of Black Bolt and the royal family. In the comics, Maximus is Black Bolt’s somewhat deranged brother/adversary. »
