Sweet Niblets This Is Preposterous, 22 July 2007
5/10
Author: bkoganbing from Buffalo, New York

Now bearing in mind that this is a Disney Channel TV series and not exactly aimed at a sophisticated audience. But I really do find it hard to believe kids don't just say this is ridiculous.

The premise is that young Miley Cyrus, daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, has a dual life. She's Miley Stewart, a normal teenage girl transplanted from Tennessee to Southern California who to all intents and purposes lives a normal teenage girl life viewed the eyes of the Disney company. But she's also Hannah Montana, a Britney Spears like rock star when she puts on a blond wig and rocks out the show. The masquerade is because she wants to live a normal life.

Laudable, but sweet niblets people would the relentless paparazzi not uncover her secret by the third episode? In her field there's no such thing as a private life as we all know it.

On the plus side, Miley Cyrus is a very good singer and her chemistry with her father Billy Ray who's also in the series playing her father is of course not acting.

And who decided to cast 30 year old Jason Earles as her dimwit hillbilly brother who on the show is only a year older? He is incredibly annoying rather than funny and given the age differences the casting borders on ghoulish.

What do I know, I'm of a different generation.
