I was quite surprised this was SO GOOD

I've seen this movie around for a couple years now & have ignored it because I thought it was just another of the mediocre crap puked out by the industry that's in dump bins & used shops everywhere. I found a copy for $3.99 at Blockbuster & decided to give it a shot. Wow, I never expected it to be so good, not at all.

Claire works nights at a convenience store & gas station, and when she gets off one morning & is waiting for her boyfriend, Jimmy, to pick her up, along comes Jimmy's truck but with someone else driving, someone that says he's friends with Jimmy. So Claire gets in & her fears are confirmed that this guy has a screw loose, or two. Duke Desmond, his name is, a friendly-looking sort but with some definite personality disorders. Seems to have a bit of a murderous streak in him, and keeps popping up here & there although, technically, he shouldn't be able to, since he's dead.

The strange thing about this film is that scenarios keep looping around to play out again, only with different players & different outcomes. Claire seems to be a the center of all this and yet, it's not terribly clear what's going on, except that she appears to be dreaming most of what's taking place. Or is she? This is pleasantly ORIGINAL and not just a little strange and creepy. From where it was filmed (Ohio), all the trees are bare & the landscape and locations fit well into the atmosphere of the film. This almost has the feel of a 70's or 80's film too, not your typical modern film.

I would definitely recommend this little gem, after dismissing it for so long I'm glad I finally decided to give it a look. 8 out of 10.
