Characters: The Family Unit (2005)

*** (out of 4)

Another good featurette from Laurent Bouzereau that can be found on the WAR OF THE WORLDS release. Steven Spielberg, Tom Cruise, Dakota Fanning, David Koepp and Joanna Johnston are among the people interviewed as they discuss their characters as well as the costumes that they wear. Spielberg starts off talking about each of the actors and why they were hired. We then hear from the actors on their opinions of their characters as well as the other cast members. Overall this 13-minute featurette is just the cast and crew talking about how great everyone else is but if you're a fan of the film then you should be entertained by it. It's your typical promotional piece but it manages to be entertaining thanks to the interviews as well as the nice behind-the-scenes footage, which shows the cast messing around while not working.
