Absolutely the best recent European shorts !
17 May 2006 | by (Belgium) – See all my reviews

If you love short films (but actually, you don't have to like shorts in particular, you just have to love film), you'll be pleasantly surprised by this compilation.

The compilation contains very different genres of films. From the 'music videos' Music for One Apartment and Six Drummers (2001) (6 guys break into an older couple's house and use the kitchen appliances to make music) and the Oscar nominated 7:35 de la mañana (2003) (an hilarious short in which the people in a bar are taken hostage and forced to sing with the hijacker). If you like more experimental work, Fast Film (2003) is great film in which folded paper and old movie fragments are used. In the Finnish Rare Exports Inc. (2003) we see a 'company presentation film' of an exporter/importer with a very special product.

My personal favorite is however Cashback (2004), a poetic, philosophical tale of what to do if you have a boring job and your mind is wandering of. Nominated for an Oscar, a feature film version is coming out shortly and absolutely brilliant!
