Awesome Documentary
11 August 2009 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

"Bullets over Hollywood" is a TV Documentary presented by the channel Starz and is narrated by Paul Sorvino (Played Paulie in Goodfellas). The Documentary talks about the growth of the mafia and why gangster movies are so appealing.

The film is a compilation of interviews with some of Hollywood's finest actors who appeared in mob films such as Chazz Palminteri(Played Sonny in "A Bronx tale"),Michael Madsen(Mr. Blonde from "Reservoir dogs"),Talia Shire(Played Connie in" The Godfather"), James Caan(Played Sonny in "The Godfather) and more. Not only are there are interviews with actors there's also interviews of film historian and critic Leonard Maltin and former gangster Henry Hill (you might remember him in the movie Goodfellas). The documentary also has some good music and even the films that were presented in this documentary were good choices. Another good thing about this Documentary is it also talks about famous gangsters such as Al Capone, Dillinger and John Gotti.

The people that felt, that should have been interviewed in this documentary are Robert Deniro(Played James Conway in "Goodfellas"), Al Pacino(Played Tony Montana in "Scarface"), Joe Pesci (Played Tommy in "Goodfellas"), Martin Scorsese(Famous film Director) and Quentin Tarantino(Famous film director). The Pictures that are shown in this documentary are good but at different times in the film you see the same pictures again, other than that the documentary is still good.

If you are a fan of gangster movies or if you want to learn a little about gangsters and cinema this is for you, however if you don't like gangster movies or if you don't like watching documentaries then skip it.

My rating for this film is a 8/10
