Ash Atalla: The whole iPad thing has been a revelation

14 November 2011 8:01 AM, PST | The Guardian - TV News | See recent The Guardian - TV News news »

TV producer Ash Atalla doesn't make a move without his trusty iPad on his lap

What's your favourite piece of technology, and how has it improved your life?

I'm sure this is an answer you're getting a lot these days, but quite simply it's the iPad 2 for me. It's improved my life in every possible manner except for my sex life. I have no complaints with it, except that it doesn't support Flash – other than that it's probably my favourite possession of all my possessions at the moment. It's almost perfect.

When was the last time you used it, and what for?

I'm using it right now – it never leaves my knee. I work in television, and 70% of the work I have to do is reading as well as watching stuff. With my iPad on my knee I can read scripts, I can watch TV shows, I can download newspapers »

Game Of Thrones: Season 2: Lisa Nolan quits over Nudity

8 September 2011 2:09 PM, PDT | Film-Book | See recent Film-Book news »

Lisa Nolan Game of Thrones Season 2 quits over nudity. Lisa Nolan of Game of Thrones: Season 2 nudity quit surprised many, including probably show writers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. “Model turned actress Lisa Nolan has abruptly quit her role as a King’s mistress after being asked to bare all for a sex scene in HBO’s dark fantasy Emmy nominated series, returning in early 2012.” Game of Thrones: Season 1 was chalk full of nudity in varying degrees, especially with the women of the HBO show. Emilia Clarke (pictured here: Game of Thrones: Season 1, Episode 2: The Kingsroad Photos), Esmé Bianco (pictured here: Game of Thrones: Winter is Coming: High Resolution Photos), Kate Dickie, and Emily Diamond (pictured here: TV Review/Photos: Game of Thrones: Season 1, Episode 5: The Wolf and the Lion) can all attest to that.

The Hard Sell: Maltesers

3 June 2011 4:05 PM, PDT | The Guardian - TV News | See recent The Guardian - TV News news »

'One little "11-calorie" Malteser and they're so naughty with it, they're making their unwitting boyfriends act all gay and stuff'

Maltesers are a bit like that pretty girl in school who benevolently tells her fat friend, "Oh, you've lost weight!", then takes a pause, before adding, "You look so much better now!" Maltesers have always adhered to the unhelpful cliche that chocolate is lady crack, but that they – with their virtual bubbles of light, crisp nothingness – are the only way to reconcile desire with guilt; much like a Catholic teenager compromising, and cracking one out to the New Testament instead of the internet. They've always passive aggressively insisted that it's the lighter way to enjoy chocolate.

Now we have an approach where light meets heart with The It Crowd's excellent Katherine Parkinson and Man Stroke Woman's Amanda Abbington, proving to us once again that Maltesers own the errant impulses of women. »
