User Reviews

Sweet, but technically faulty.
30 August 2007 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

From an audience point of view I didn't find this movie to be that bad. Yes, the script seemed more like something that belonged on Lifetime or an extended "very special" television episode, but it had entertaining moments. It was a good way to waste some time on a Saturday afternoon.

On a critical point of view, I found it to be a fairly sweet story. The idea of a woman coming to love herself was good, if sappy. The positive message is that woman shouldn't have to take diet pills and hate themselves in order to get the man of their dreams. However, the movie does give into many stereotypes and "fat chick" humor at points that detracted this message and made it somewhat confusing as to what the film was trying to do. Overall, the story was OK, even if it was muddled and dragged a little.

Technically, however, the movie was horrible. The cinematography was fuzzy and cheap looking. Again, a made-for-TV after school special came to mind several times. The acting was OK at best, and the direction hardly existent. On a technical level, it looked almost as if the filmmakers took a random home video camera out and filmed some stuff. It was not pleasant to watch. Although, I've seen worse.
