Trailer for Heavy Metal Season 2 (Metal Hurlant) Looks Like Mutant Chronicles

19 December 2013 2:02 PM, PST | QuietEarth.us | See recent QuietEarth news »

Here is our first look at season two of the TV anthology series based on the Heavy Metal comic books (or, Metal Hurlant if you're from Europe). The first episode is called "The Endomorphe" and with its vaguely WWII trench-style look and, well, mutants, I can't help but see a striking resemblance to Simon Hunter's visually striking Mutant Chronicles.

I don't think the first season ever aired on TV domestically, but the Blu-ray is available in various regions.

Metal Hurlant Chronicles Season 2 stars Michael Jai White, Darren Shalahvi, Michelle Lee, Fabien Houssaye, Silvio Simac and Alexis Dumas.

"The Seasoning House" arrives on DVD Blu-ray 12th August and is a must-own for fans of revenge thrillers at their best. Click here to read our french "The Seasoning House" movie review. Directed by special-effects maestro Paul Hyett ("The Woman In Black", "Eden Lake", "The Descent"), the film was highly anticipated and didn't disappoint when it premiered at last year's Frightfest, where it was described as “nerve shredding” and “exceptional.” Starring talented British newcomer Rosie Day ("Ironclad 2") in the lead role of captive Angel, and with support from Sean Pertwee ("Dog Soldiers", "Wild Bill") Kevin Howarth ("The Last Horror Movie", "Gallowwalker") and Anna Walton ("Hellboy 2", "Mutant Chronicles") "The Seasoning House" is a dark, gripping exploration of a »

Exclusive: Vincent Guastini's V.G.P. Effects to Deliver Last Blood

28 May 2013 8:30 AM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

With Mutant Chronicles director Simon Hunter currently in pre-production on the apocalyptic vampire/zombie feature Last Blood, we caught up with Vincent Guastini, head of V.G.P Effects & Design Studio, who’s been tasked with delivering the flick’s special makeup effects, to get the skinny.

"I'm very excited about working with Simon,” said Guastini of the Last Blood director. “I'm a huge Mutant Chronicles fan, and during our Skype design meetings for Last Blood, we immediately started coming up with fresh ideas for the looks for the vampires and zombies. I have some pretty ‘out there’ ideas so we'll see after more locked in meetings this week with Simon, but he has an open mind and did say, ‘Lets do something never seen before.’”

Based on the Keenspot graphic novel of the same name, Last Blood follows a small group of human survivors of a zombie apocalypse, who »

Exclusive Interview: Stuart Hazeldine

12 February 2013 6:31 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Most of you will know Stuart Hazeldine for his blazing debut feature Exam, a tense and claustrophobic thriller starring Jimi Mistry and Colin Salmon, but you may also know him as a prolific Twitterphile and one of Hollywood’s hottest screenwriter.

With credits like The Mutant Chronicles and the as-yet-unproduced Paradise Lost adaptation (originally cast with Bradley Cooper and Benjamin Walker before the funding got pulled), as well as a whole host of uncredited rewrites on the likes of The Day The Earth Stood Still, and spec scripts for sequels to Alien and Blade Runner, he is a force to be reckoned with, both as a writer and as a director.

Stuart was kind enough to give me some of his time and discuss his career to date and his directing methods, as well as 3D, Stress and, er, Tripods…

Thanks for your time, Stuart. Let’s start with the »

8 January 2013 3:20 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Star of Hellboy and Sons of Anarchy, Ron Perlman has been on most people’s film and TV radar for quite some time. His existence may have popped up on you out of the blue, infiltrating your psyche behind a wall of make-up and special effects, or he may have become the latest connect-the-dots type puzzle of “Hey, it’s that actor who played that guy from that other movie, you know, that dude with the big face. What’s his name!?”.

His name is Ron, Ron Perlman, and to me he is a God-like Genius. Notching up countless on-screen roles and bringing each one a unique persona to every project, in my opinion there is no one quite like him.

Here are 5 reasons why Ron Perlman is the best thing in practically everything he is in; in essence he is a God-like Genius (look at that, just as the title says! »
