Larry Clark to paint 'Mona Lisa' with Christensen

11 November 2008 | ioncinema | See recent ioncinema news »

- After a decade’s worth of maligned coming-of-age portraits (gutter ball films if you ask me), Larry Clark is looking to re-configure a British cult classic from the 80’s that didn’t make big waves in the U.S. In need of a career resuscitation (Does anyone remember Jumper? and did anyone see Virgin Territory or Awake?), Screen Daily reports that Hayden Christensen is being courted to topline the re-imagining of Mona Lisa with Clark very much looking forward to directing the pic.  Co-written by Clark and David Reeves, this is a remake of the 1986 film directed by Neil Jordan, about a small-time chauffeur who delves into the London underbelly with a high-class call girl. Christensen will take on a younger version of George. The $8m dollar pic is set to shoot in New York from March 2009. HandMade' Michael Ryan told the trade that “Clark had been pursuing the »

Entertainment Weekly just last night posted an interview with Kristen Stewart. She talks about Twilight playing a stripper and more....nbspShe begins with a disclaimer. I usually dont look like such a skank Kristen Stewart says fanning out 10 dirtcaked fingernails. Fresh off her star turn as innocent lovestruck Bella Swan in Twilight the 18yearold actress best known as the hippie chick in Sean Penns Into the Wild is researching a very different movie role at the moment that of a young stripper. Shes been spending time at a rundown strip club in New Orleans French Quarter called Dixie Divas taking in the show and learning how to gyrate around a pole though she doesnt shed many layers. I danced on the bar there three nights this week and my legs are covered in bruises Stewart says proudly. Hopefully the Twilight fans wont totally freak out.Stewart has every right to be concerned. »

Samuel L. Jackson vs. the 'Dragon'

29 October 2008 8:00 PM, PDT | The Hollywood Reporter - Movie News | See recent The Hollywood Reporter - Movie News news »

It's another heavy role for Samuel L. Jackson.

Having most recently played a dirty cop in "Lakeview Terrace," Jackson is set to star as a bad guy again in Columbia Pictures' remake of Berry Gordy's 1985 cult classic "The Last Dragon."

Jackson will play Sho'nuff, the Shogun of Harlem, a role played in the original by the late Julius Carry, whose spiel included asking ego-driven questions like "Am I the baddest mofo lowdown around this town?" Each time his gang of thugs answered, "Sho 'nuff!"

Davis Entertainment's John Davis and Gordy's son Kerry Gordy are producing.

Penning the screenplay as well as producing is Dallas Jackson, who heads up the urban family label DJ Classicz with Davis. Wu-Tang Clan's RZA is co-producing.

The updated plot will be along the same lines of the original, centering on young martial arts student Leroy Green in his quest through the streets of »

Warner Brothers Has Killed Grayskull and He-Man!

16 October 2008 7:15 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

A few months back we wrote about a potential He-Man movie titled Grayskull: The Masters of the Universe. It was reviewed by our friend El Mayimbe as a potential masterpiece, giving old school He-Man fans everything they'd want in a modern interpretation of the character. Although I wasn't a fan of He-Man myself, I was convinced - this seemed like a great project that could potentially be a big hit. Alas, Warner Brothers didn't think the same thing. El Mayimbe chimes in again on Latino Review reporting that Warner Brothers has killed it dead - Grayskull: The Masters of the Universe ain't going anywhere! Mayimbe goes over a few of the reasons why it encountered so much resistance after the script drummed up a lot of buzz. Apparently the production company, Silver Pictures, gave WB a very small list of high priority directors, including Doug Liman (of Jumper) and Bryan Singer »

Hensleigh ("Armageddon") is the writer and will executive produce alongside Michael Jaffe and Howard Braunstein of Jaffe Braunstein Entertainment ("The Memory Keeper's Daughter") and Vince Gerardis, Ralph Vicinanza and Eli Kirschner of Created By ("Jumper").

Flash forward to 2009: ABC might finally have launched a strong companion to "Lost" with "Flash Forward."

Based on Robert J. Sawyer's sci-fi novel, "Flash Forward" is considered very compatible with "Lost." It chronicles the chaos that ensues after everyone in the world blacks out for 2 minutes, 17 seconds and has a mysterious vision of the future that changes lives forever.

Goyer will direct the pilot. He also will exec produce with Braga and Jessika Borsiczky Goyer (NBC's "Revelations") along with Vince Gerardis and Ralph M. Vicinanza ("Jumper"), who own the rights to the book. ABC Studios is in negotiations to produce.
