Editorial: Fox meet Marvel

30 June 2016 12:30 PM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

Fox’s treatment of Marvel properties is unacceptable.  There, I’ve established how I feel. Now, let’s run down why it’s so exciting that one day we may see them work with Marvel in a capacity similar to Sony. To put it bluntly, it feels like Fox is just in it for the money. I’m aware of how capitalism works, but the difference between someone who cares about what they are doing and someone rifling through your pockets is glaringly obvious. Many of you will disagree, but let’s take a peek back in time. We’ll begin with X-Men.

In 2000, a time before Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man film, X-Men was a triumph.  Not many people cared about the fact that Hugh Jackman looked nothing like the comic book version of Wolverine. It was just cool to see a man with claws tearing through stuff. But, »

18 May 2016 5:15 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

TNT has given a series order to “Will,” a drama about the exploits of young William Shakespeare, the network announced Tuesday. The network also has cast Niecy Nash (“Scream Queens”) in the Rashida Jones-produced drama pilot “Claws,” and has ordered another drama pilot, “Civil,” about a second U.S. Civil War.

A period drama told in a contemporary style, “Will” stars newcomer Laurie Davidson alongside Olivia DeJonge (“The Visit,” “Hiding”), Colm Meaney (“Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” “Hell on Wheels”), Mattias Inwood (“The Shanara Chronicles”), Jamie Campbell Bower (“Sweeney Todd,” “The Twilight Saga”) and Ewen Bremner (“Transporting,” “Snowpiercer”). TNT ordered a pilot for the series in January. Craig Pearce (“The Great Gatsby”), “Shekhar Kapur” (Elizabeth), Alison Owen (“Elizabeth”), Debra Hayward (“Love Actually”), Vince Gerardis (“Jumper”), Howard Braunstein (“The Informant!”) and Louise Rosager serve as executive producers. The series begins with Shakespeares arrival in the raucous London theater scene of the 16th century. »

'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' Storyboard Teases Star-Lord's Dad

30 March 2016 6:24 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

One of the biggest mysteries leading into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is the identity of Star-Lord's (Chris Pratt) father. Many have speculated that new cast member Kurt Russell is playing this new character, but even if that were true, we don't know anything about his identity. Writer-director James Gunn shared a new hand-drawn storyboard sketch from a scene shot earlier today, which teases the mystery behind Peter Quill's dad.

Last week, James Gunn started a new tradition from the set known as #&#8206WhatWeShotWednesday&#8236, where he shares one mysterious sketch from a scene they shot that day. Unfortunately, the sketches themselves are quite messy, and it's tough to glean any specific story details from these drawings. Today's sketch features three characters standing around... something, with a line of dialogue from Star-Lord that reads "My Mom always told me my Dad was from the stars."

Zoe Saldana Shares New 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' Set Video and Photos

28 March 2016 12:06 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is still shooting in Atlanta, Georgia, with writer-director James Gunn working towards a May 5, 2017 release date. While it isn't known how long the shoot will take place, actress Zoe Saldana recently shared two new set photos from her Facebook page, which features the actress in her iconic green makeup as Gamora. One of the photos clearly shows the actress on board the Milano, while the other is in her trailer.

Last week, the sequel made headlines when Disney threatened to pull all future productions out of Georgia after the state legislature passed a discriminatory new bill. If signed into law by the state's governor, Nathan Deal, House Bill 757 will permit faith-based groups and organizations in Georgia to discriminate based on sexuality. Disney has decided that it will no longer bring its big blockbusters to the state. While Disney was the first studio to speak out against the bill, »

Sylvester Stallone To Have Cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

11 March 2016 8:12 AM, PST | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has already cast Kurt Russell, now it's been revealed that they've cast another veteran superstar in Sylvester Stallone!  Although, don't expect his part to be too huge.

It was reported, last week, by the Daily News that Sylvester Stallone was seen exiting an Atlanta hotel with script in hand.  It was later revealed that the script was for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2. We now know Sly's part in the sequel to one of Marvel's best franchises!

Sylvester Stallone will be playing as a Ravager!

This news comes, courtesy of Heroic Hollywood who broke the news first.

For those of you who don't remember who the Ravagers are, that's the team of thieves that Starlord (Chris Pratt) was trying to avoid the entire movie.  They are led by the blue skinned, whistling Yondu (Michael Rooker).

The casting seems a bit small for someone of »

Does Sylvester Stallone Have a Secret Role in 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2'?

4 March 2016 5:53 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Last month, Marvel announced that production had started in Atlanta on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which has already been set for release on May 5, 2017. The studio confirmed a number of new cast members, but today, a report from New York Daily News claims the production has landed another major star, Sylvester Stallone. Naturally, the studio hasn't confirmed that the actor has signed on, but there's plenty of evidence to support that he has joined the cast.

The site spotted Sylvester Stallone leaving an Atlanta hotel where all of the cast members are staying, and he was seen holding a script as well. After leaving the hotel, the actor reportedly got into a car that is normally assigned to star Chris Pratt, before being taken away, presumably to the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 set. Of course, he could have been holding a script to a different movie, »

Today we have even more photos courtesy of The Daily Mail, which give us a better look at Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora and Karen Gillan. Unfortunately, there isn't too much we can glean about the story from these pictures, but they're well worth a look.

'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' Gets Kurt Russell, Is He Star-Lord's Dad?

17 February 2016 11:54 AM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

We knew several months ago that production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was set to begin sometime in February, with principal photography taking place in Atlanta. Earlier today, Marvel confirmed that principal photography has started, while the studio also confirmed the long-rumored casting of Kurt Russell, along with two more franchise newcomers, Elizabeth Debicki and Chris Sullivan. Unfortunately, the announcement wouldn't confirm what characters these new cast members are playing quite yet, but there is speculation that Kurt Russell will have a pivotal role.

Back in January, a report surfaced that claimed Kurt Russell was being sought to play the father of Chris Pratt's Peter Quill/Star-Lord, but his character's identity has still not yet been confirmed. Writer-director James Gunn has said in the past that Peter Quill's father will not be the same person from the comics, J'son, and that fans will learn the mysterious father's »
