Plot Summary

  • Jesus returns to see "The Passion," and is shocked to discover that instead of focusing on his life and teachings, people are focusing on his death and suffering; things he would rather forget. Exiting the theater, he realizes that he has arrived on Earth right before the "Shabbos" resulting in a frantic search for a synagogue before sundown. His efforts are disrupted by a curmudgeonly priest, who demands that Jesus reveal his Second Coming, whether he wants to or not.

  • "Christ in the City" is a fish out of water comedy in response to Mel Gibson's "The Passion." Jesus - a Jewish teacher who did a few miracles (but who didn't in those days?) - returns to Earth to see "The Passion," but is shocked to discover that he has been transformed into a new religion. Instead of focusing on his life and teachings, people are focusing on his death and suffering; Things he would rather forget. Exiting the theater, he realizes that he has arrived right before "Shabbos," and is so flustered by the film that he misses his ride back to Heaven - resulting in a frantic search for a synagogue before sundown. But his efforts are disrupted by Father Sebastian, a curmudgeonly priest, who demands that Jesus reveal his Second Coming... Whether he wants to or not.
